It’s the beginning of the holidays. Are you pressured to find the perfect gift, drained by the expectation of family gatherings or saddened by the distance from loved ones? Experiencing some level of disconnect from your emotional reality vs. what you think you “should” be feeling? Are you exerting a lot of energy to make things happen in your life with little ease or satisfaction?
I’ve been thinking a lot about the idea of grace and how it shows up in our lives. Whether the physical grace of a beautiful dancer or the spiritual grace of things falling into place with little effort, the flow of grace is something we all long for.
I recently began the practice of finding grace, noticing when it shows up in my life. The other day I was stuck at an intersection trying to make a left turn through incoming traffic. We all know what that can be like. I settled in for the wait when a car stopped to let me cross. I wondered who the kind person was. The driver was a man with so much light in his face that he made my day. I felt blessed by his actions and presence. A moment of grace I felt immensely grateful for.
Everyday I write down at least one moment of grace that’s occurred in my life. It helps me see there is a divine flow spilling down on me. It helps me soften and receive. I feel a deeper connection to Higher Power and greater trust that my life is unfolding as I envision it. Funny too, when I take time to notice grace the more I recognize just how present it truly is.
What moments of grace do you notice in your life? I would love to hear from you. Please share in the comments below and spread the light.
